Arsenal tracking Moussa Sissoko
Earlier I posted on who would back up Alex Song as a defensive midfielder and Sissoko was one of my targets, well low and behold he’s has now been linked with Arsenal. The tall midfielder can really play anywhere in the central midfield as an attacker or defensive player. At 6’2″ he would really add some height to the midfield and some brute force as well. A few other teams are tracking the Toulouse midfielder who played 36 games last year and scored 5 goals.
It’s not the first time Arsenal have been linked with the midfielder but Arsene Wenger should be looking at a defensive midfielder to backup Alex Song who will leave for the African Cup in January. Sissoko would be a suitable replacement as well as good for rotation as it was often the case late in the season that Song was fatigued.
Arsenal have also been linked with his French International Teammate Blaise Matuidi as well and would need about 15 million Euros to bring him in, while Sissoko would command around 6-8 million euros.
Still young but has over 120 league appearances in Ligue 1 and would probably like to test his resolve somewhere else. Arsenal may be the perfect place for that as he could really establish himself as a top player in Europe and strive for a starting place in the French National Team.
Arsenal have a tough schedule right off the bat with qualification for Champions League as well as some tough opposition in their first month in the Premier League. Sissoko’s presence would be much needed and it will give him a chance to gain more experience in European play. So will he make the move to North London or will he find a new home at Liverpool or Manchester City?
