Gervinho Has Medical, Other Thoughts From Training
News Reports from France today have emerged that Gervinho had his medical yesterday and is in London now. I find it very odd that not one Gervinho report came out yesterday and everything was quiet while he was in town and they were somehow able to sneak him into London and give him a medical without really anyone knowing…except a French newspaper. Anyways, I hope it gets announced soon so he can hook up with his teammates in training and they can put up more pictures.
Sadly though, we’ve missed out on Ricky Alvarez who will arrive on Thursday for a medical, he’s a big talent that will just be wasted in Italy but we’ve been linked with Inter Milan midfielder Thiago Motta. He’s Brazilian born Italian so he gets half credit. I had heard of him but not really watched or seen anything on him so when I pulled up Youtube and watched, he seemed interesting…I was a bit intrigued. There were a few things I noticed: 1. He works hard off the ball 2. He’s got good vision and can match it with his passing 3. He’s feisty. It’s only a rumor though that just started today so don’t get your hopes up.
A few things from first day of training today, firstly is that weight doesn’t look heavy at all and secondly, that’s Carl Jenkinson lifting it. We had our first look at our new signing today and he looks a bit…skinny. This was my favorite photo of the day for a few reasons. 1. Vela taking a piss in the background…I just laughed 2. The man on the right is none other than Emmanuel Frimpong…I think he got bored while he was out last year and hit the weights a bit hard, holy crap. I don’t think he should be negotiating with teams to go on loan, Wenger needs to put him in the team this year.
A few other youngsters joined the squad today including Kyle Bartley, Wellington, and most importantly Ryo Miyaichi. This could be a VERY important preseason for him. He will not be able to get a work permit as of right now because he hasn’t played for Japan. If he can really impress though in preseason he may be able to gain a special talent visa and seriously, if Denilson can do it why can’t Miyaichi.
More first teamers are due back in the next few days to join up with the squad and if you look at the pictures at Arsenal.com you will see we still have Bendtner and Denilson. Both are looking for clubs and we are looking for clubs for them because their wages are far too high and their talent is far too low. What will be important is having a large squad because of all the competitions so some of the young players making the step up is big!
I think we will also see Rosicky back fit, healthy and if he starts off well could have himself a good season. He may really have to carry the team as well with the Nasri and Fabregas situation. He is getting up there in age but he is still a good player no matter what any of the haters say. Lets hope Chamakh has learned plenty from last year as well and is looking to start off like he did last year, although with the arrival of Gervinho, Chamakh may find it hard getting into the team.
How come nobody else gets to wear a sports bra but him? Maybe lost a bet? Nope probably loves that thing. Anyone else but Eboue and I’m not sure I’d be a fan of them anymore 🙂
