Arsenal “Kidnapping” Fabregas? Transfer Movement

Eventful day for Arsenal with the players enjoying their time in China and getting ready for their game tomorrow.  Here though, we find ourselves with some transfer movement from the day as we’re in negotiations for a player and still looking to move on an Italian Midfielder.  That’s good and all but not sure how many people will be appeased by no new Center Back.

Today the Catalan Mayor has described the Fabregas situation as a “kidnapping” and had this to say:

“We want him to come right away, he is experiencing a kidnapping,”

“If the English are so honourable they should behave properly,” he added.

“He [Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger] has to stop clowning around because it’s disorienting for all of us.”

Wow, some powerful words for the Arsenal manager who just yesterday said everybody needs to shut up about Fabregas.  How is it dishonorable to want to keep your best player or at least get what he’s really worth!  This is more disrespectful than Xavi’s comments and at least Xavi is in the team…this guy, he doesn’t even matter.  There’s no reason for him to speak about things that don’t concern him!

Whether Cesc leaves or not he will always have a place in our hearts but beating Barcelona for me is sweeter than any victory against Tottenham or our big rivals here in the EPL.  Over the last year I’ve not seen so much disrespect on and off the field.

On to more important business and that is, our own incoming players which there may be one on the horizon.  Joel Campbell from Saprissa in Costa Rica looks to have entered negotiations with Arsenal.  Richard Law has been holding talks with his agent and is hoping to secure the signing of the nineteen year old.  Campbell is left footed, fast, and has a good shot.  He’s not started too many games but plays in the National Team and has impressed at the recent Copa America.  He will look to have negotiations concluded shortly so he can travel to the U-20 World Cup.

He would be an interesting buy as he would hopefully secure a Work Permit right away and while he would probably spend his first year on the bench and playing Cup games, could get some action in January when Gervinho and Chamakh leave for the African Cup.

Tribal Football is reporting that Arsenal are about to bid on Italian International Ricardo Montolivo for 12 million pounds.  The player only has 12 months left on his contract and would make it easier to part with Fabregas according to the article.  12 million is said to be an inflated price as well since the player’s contract has 1 year left and should be enough to tempt Fiorentina to sell.  Fiorentina are resigned to lose the player who has refused to enter contract negotiations with the club.

I’ve seen the player play and he’s obviously a skilled player, but would he really ease the Fabregas departure?  He’s a great passer and really has an eye for well timed runs but him coming would make me quite nervous.  After seeing Alberto Aquilani flop in his time at Liverpool I’m not sure how I feel about him coming as the Italians aren’t well suited to the English game.

Lastly on to what people really want to hear and that’s Gary Cahill.  Bolton are supposedly saying they want two of our players on loan if they are to part with Cahill.  They want to take Ignasi Miquel and Henri Lansbury to Bolton.  Other reports are saying we are offering Denilson to try and acquire Cahill and it doesn’t look they’re too keen on it.  Sad that nobody wants to take the Brazillian off our hands with his high wages!  If he wants out of Arsenal he will have to lower these demands.   Anyways I would be all for letting them take Miquel and Lansbury although that would probably be the last we see of Lansbury who has 12 months left on his contract.
